2ndGrade Teacher Position

Description of Program:
We are a parochial School in Versailles, KY serving students in grades preschool - 8. We are in search of an energetic, responsible, loving 2ndgrade teacher for our elementary school.

 

General Position Description

The 2nd grade teacher creates and administers a classroom program that is conducive to student learning and which emphasizes mutual respect for all people. The 2ndgrade teacher should use a variety of classroom techniques for learning and implement interdisciplinary, project-based work, field trips, educational technologies, and collaborative work with other teachers. The 2nd grade teacher will administer the sacrament program for First Reconciliation and First Communion for school children. The 2nd grade teacher is flexible and committed to a continuous process for professional growth.

 

Teaching Responsibilities

·Plan and implement a creative, engaging and stimulating classroom program that entails a high level of collaboration amongst students, includes interdisciplinary, project-based work, and which utilizes educational technologies appropriately.

·Adheres to and promotes Catholic Identity, with a focus on the Sacraments in 2ndgrade.

·Teaches all aspects of 2nd grade sacraments and plans and attends the sacramental masses.

·Promote high expectations, demonstrate a caring attitude, and establish an environment that supports social, emotional, and academic development in students.

·Frequently communicate with parents and caregivers about their child’s progress by phone, email, in conferences, newsletters, and through report cards.

·Evaluate the progress of each student through formal and informal assessment. Use electronic system to record progress.

·Use positive and productive techniques for improving student behavior.

·Other related duties as assigned.

 

Professional Responsibilities

·Attend all bi-weekly faculty meetings and participate actively as a team member.

·Attend and participate in all in-service and faculty professional development days.

·Share recess and other duties equitably.

·Serve on at least one school committee and one after school activity.

 

Requirements

·A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in related age groups and subjects.

·Experience with using educational technologies.

·Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking.

·The ability to establish cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and parents.

·Strong organizational skills.

 

Educational Requirements and Qualifications

·BA or BS in Elementary Education, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.

·Holds a current Kentucky State teaching credential or in process to receive certificate

·Practicing Catholic

·Participates in professional development to improve teaching craft.

·Completes Catechetical Certification through the Archdiocese of Lexington.

Preschool Aide

We are a parochial Pre-School in Versailles, KY. We are looking for a part-time teacher’s aides in our three/four-year-old classroom. We are looking for an energetic, responsible, loving assistant to help our Lead Teacher with curriculum, transitions, and promoting self-help skills with young children.

Duties:

·Stimulates emotional, intellectual, and social growth of students by implementing educational programs and activities tailored to assigned class.
·Provides safe environment by maintaining orderly, clean, and appealing facilities; following standards and procedures; complying with legal recommendations.
·Encourages development of student self-control by utilizing classroom management and modeling techniques.
·Assists students in lunch room.
·Ensures continuous care of children by assuming teaching responsibilities when teacher is absent.

Instructional Assistant (Full-Time)

Description of Program:
We are a parochial School in Versailles, KY serving students in grades preschool - 8. We are looking for an instructional aide for an elementary classroom. We are in search of an energetic, responsible, loving assistant to help our Lead Teacher with curriculum, transitions, and leading small group lessons.

Duties:
The instructional aide will work closely with the classroom teacher to provide a nurturing environment that respects and honors the individual needs of all children, while also challenging them to meet high academic standards. In conjunction with the classroom teacher, the instructional aide will be expected to teach small and large groups; assist in developing units of study with the assistance of the teacher, keep track of student progress through assessment and record-keeping systems. Other duties include conducting lunch and recess activities; accompanying children on field trips; duplicating materials; operating audio-visual equipment; assisting at special classes; managing the whole class if the teacher has to be out for short periods of time; and performing other tasks requested by the teacher.  The hours for this position are Monday - Friday 7:45 - 3:15.

Extended Day Care (EDC) Worker (Part-time)

We are a parochial Pre-School in Versailles, KY. We are looking for a part-time person to care for students in the extended day care program. We are looking for an energetic, responsible, loving person to provide snack, playground supervision, homework assistance, and plan after school activities for students who stay in our after school program.  This is a part-time position, Monday - Friday 2:30 - 6:00 pm.

Duties:

  • Supervise the children at all times, ensuring their well being and safety. 
  • Check the program’s equipment and make sure it is adequate before the program starts. 
  • Assist the Coordinator in the planning, implementing and evaluation of the Program. 
  • Ensure all children are signed in and are signed out by an authorized parent or nominated person.
  • Plan and provide snack to students in program
  • Provides safe environment by maintaining orderly, clean, and appealing facilities; following standards and procedures; complying with legal recommendations.
  • Encourages active play in outdoor and indoor facilities
  • Assists with homework
  • Plans activities for students following guidelines provided
