NTI Information

Mar 13th, 20

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your continued support as we navigate new information and directives concerning COVID-19.As you know, we are directed by our Diocese to follow the protocol for school closure dictated by our county’s health department and school system. We are monitoring the situation, receiving updates from the Woodford County Health Department and the Woodford School Superintendent. We continue to follow the guidelines established by them and our Diocese to help ensure the wellbeing and safety of our students. If Woodford County closes school, St. Leo will also be closed.

Given the situation, if we must suspend in-person, classroom instruction, our teachers are preparing Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI). We will maintain challenging work for our students during this time. We will ask all students to bring home all textbooks, workbooks, and reading material. Students will also be receiving additional material that will be used during the NTI days.We will inform families in a timely manner should the need to cancel classes occurs.

It may be necessary for students to have access to a computer/smart phone, internet and a printer during this time. Please be sure that your student’s teacher has your correct email. Teacher’s will be providing their phone numbers to you as well to be used during the NTI days if necessary. Here are how things will work:

How will instructional materials be provided?

Students will receive as many assignments as possible on paper prior to school closing. Students may also receive assignments via email and/or be asked to return completed assignments via email. Students may be asked to use online resources such as videos, reading quizzes, etc. If you do not have a computer that can be made available or you do not have internet access, please let your student’s teacher know immediately.

What will happen on an NTI day?

1. If school is closed, the NTI day will go into effect.

2. Students will work at home on assignments provided by their teacher.

3. Teachers will be available via email or phone during the hours of 9:00 am to 2:00 pm to answer questions or provide help.

4. Teachers will inform students on how work is to be returned.

While we are in school, we continue to clean common areas such as the cafeteria, hallways, restrooms, etc. throughout the day.Classroom desks are wiped down as are door handles, railings, etc. St. Leo School’s highest priority is the health and wellbeing of our students. We will do everything possible to fulfill this commitment while we continue to provide quality education for our students.

Please continue to pray for all who have been affected by this virus and for those who are working diligently for its prevention and mitigation.

Thank you for all you do.
