Why St. Leo School?

Because St. Leo offers:

Spiritual and Moral Values
At St. Leo Catholic School your child receives an education that is grounded in the Roman Catholic faith. Spiritual and moral development permeates the entire curriculum at St. Leo. Many non-Catholic families also benefit from the fruits of an education that focuses on the total student: body, mind, and soul.

Catholic schools are renowned for academic excellence. Students in Catholic schools consistently score in the top 1/3 on nationally standardized tests. Terra Nova test scores of St. Leo students are consistent with these national scores.

Community Service
St. Leo students model their dedication to community service each and every day. Students enjoy helping others in their community and abroad. This year students helped collect money and goods for the Woodford County Food Pantry and Clothing Bank. They contributed and assembled baskets of food for the annual Thanksgiving Basket event. The Christmas Store provided toys and clothing for 800 needy children.  Students also prepare and serve food at the Catholic Action Center.

Higher Education
In a Catholic school, a child will be encouraged to further his or her education. The total number of Catholic high school graduates who continue their education is approximately 97 percent. Graduates of St. Leo School are well prepared for high school.

Extracurricular Activities
St. Leo students participate in a host of extra-curricular activities including volleyball, basketball, Faith-first soccer and basketball,  soccer, academic team, student council, KYA and KUNA, Stamp Club, Art Club, music ministry, and dances. In addition they participate in a number of ministries at the parish.

Parental Involvement
Parental involvement is a critical part of Catholic schools like St. Leo. Our very active PTO regularly and conducts various fundraisers to help support specific programs for students throughout the year. Many parents volunteer in the classroom, in the lunch room, on the playground, and on field trips.

Graduation Rate
Nationally, the percentage of Catholic school students who finish high school is 98 percent. St. Leo School is committed to the philosophy that every student matters. Every effort is made to work with students who need remedial assistance. Academically gifted students are challenged within our differentiation of instruction that meets their level of learning.

Committed Faculty
All of our teachers at St. Leo are prepared and eager to educate your child. Teachers at St. Leo School embrace opportunities for continued education.
